March 28, 2004 - Thanks for Your Help, Western Style!
The kudos for a great tournament are still rolling in from across the West. The host committee of the 2004 Western Canadian Ringette Championships wishes to thank the many outstanding volunteers from Delta Ringette and throughout the Lower Mainland that helped make the WCRC the great success it was.

March 27, 2004 - Delta Scores Big with Westerns Success
The Junior A and Belle A Delta Ringette teams representing BC at the 2004 Western Canadian Ringette Championships won the silver medal in their respective divisions. Coaches Larry Strohan and Dennis Minns capitalized on the teams success throughout the season which culminated in a provincial gold medal for Minns' Belle A team and a provincial bronze for the Junior A team. Delta Ringette congratulates coaches Minns and Strohan and all the outstanding athletes that worked so hard to earn the coveted silver medal at the 2004 WCRC. The Lower Mainland Tween AA team representing BC earned a bronze medal and was also well staffed with Deltans Michelle Connal, Sabrina Beauchamp, Gabrielle Logan, Dianne Evans, and Caitlin Floer.

Meghan Minns (Belle A) and Caitlin Floer (Tween AA) each captured the Fastest Skater award for their division in the skills competition and both were later selected to the Player Performance Awards All-star team for their performance during the event. March 15, 2004 - Delta Dynamite strikes Gold
Delta’s Tween A team brought home the top prize from the 2004 Provincial A Tournament. One win during the round robin was just enough to advance the team to the semi-finals. It was the perfect time for the Dynamite to turn it on and turn it on they did by playing one of their best games of the season as they downed Quesnel 3 to 2. The win secured them a Gold Medal berth against their rival, Surrey/White Rock. The awesome play continued through a tight game that ended with a 2 to 1 victory for Delta. Coaches Cheryl Evans and Tom White congratulate the team for their hard work. Way to go, Dynamite!

February 28, 2004 - Zone 4 Team Stikes Gold at BC Winter Games
The zone 4 ringette team from Delta, Richmond, and Burnaby won it all at this year's BC Winter Games held February 25-27 at Port Alberni. The team was dominated by talented players from Delta who comprised eleven of the eighteen member roster. The team was undefeated in round robin play and went on to a 4-1 victory in the gold medal game against favoured zone 3 rival from LMRL associations Surrey, Port Coquitlam, Coquitlam, and Langley. Head coach Alain Beauchamp, also from Delta, was extremely proud of the grit and determination this team demonstrated, and was especially proud of the contribution by Delta players. Led by an outstanding performance between the pipes by starter goaltender Melanie Chanona, the team battled hard to come back and win two tough round-robin matches against Thompson-Okanagan and Zone 3. Delta's contribution to the zone 4 team included captains Caitlin Floer and Samantha Shimodaira, top gunner Michelle Connal and forwards Kelsey Cardinal and Sabrina Beauchamp. Outstanding defensive play was provided by Gabrielle Logan, Julia White, Tera Woodruff, and goaltender Dianne Evans. For more information, visit the 2004 BC Winter Games site. February 19, 2004 - Delta Novice A Wins Gold at the Sweetheart
Valentine Day hugs and smooches were not on the minds of this fiery novice A team from Delta at the Sweetheart Tournament held Feb 13-15 in Kelowna. The Delta Novice A All-stars shook up the Okanagan over the Valentine's weekend by winning five straight games at the popular and well-attended tournament. The team defeated Salmon Arm, Fraser Valley, Coquitlam, Surrey, and Fraser Valley again in the final game to bring home the gold to Delta. Congratulations to Terry and the team! Delta Ringette is proud of you!

November 11, 2003 - Junior A’s Retain Championship Title at Burnaby Classic
Delta’s Junior A ringette team fought a tough battle to retain its championship title in the Burnaby/New West 2003 Ice-Breaker Tournament held November 8 to 11. The team opened the tournament with a decisive 4-1 victory over Richmond. After a very competitive battle in game two, the Delta team edged the TORL powerhouse Kelowna team in a 3-2 squeaker. In game three, the girls worked hard in another 4-1 success over the Burnaby/New West hosts. Game 4 saw a short and exhausted Delta bench manage a 4-4 knot against Coquitlam. Delta proved tough to beat between the pipes with stellar work by veteran goalie Gabrielle Descoteaux. Delta’s round-robin record earned the girls a spot in the Tuesday final, a rematch against the formidable Kelowna team. Things looked bleak after playing short-handed for 20 minutes and, with 5:40 left on the clock, Kelowna held a seemingly insurmountable lead over Delta. Delta battled hard in those final minutes scoring two goals to make it 4-3. With 13 seconds left in regular time, Delta’s center, Rudy Krawchuk, tied the game at 4-4, and forced overtime. Overtime saw Delta with a player in the box and fans on their feet. Team lead scorer Merryl Edington-Hryb ended the tension with a beautiful goal, giving Delta first Place in the Junior A division. Delta’s coaches were extremely proud of their team’s efforts throughout the tournament and look forward to an equally successful Junior A ringette season.
